about me

Christine's journey as an artist began at a tender age, her love for coloring blooming long before she could even grasp a pencil. Christmas mornings were magical, unwrapping new coloring books that ignited her creativity. At the age of 10, she made a pivotal shift from coloring to drawing, capturing the images of her cherished church and the tree in her backyard. To the surprise of her family, her talent shone brightly even without formal art education.

Her path took a leap in high school when two remarkable teachers, Mrs. MacIntire and Mr. Stanbridge, nurtured her talent and instilled valuable knowledge. Although Christine's formal art studies included a year at the University of Victoria, her transient life with a military husband led her to explore different regions of Canada. This journey allowed her to intimately study the diverse flora and fauna of each locale.

In her travels, Christine lived in places as remote as Inuvik, NWT, and the stunning Queen Charlotte Islands, now known as Haida Gwaii. She then ventured to several locations in Ontario, Winnipeg, and New Brunswick. When she eventually returned home to Victoria, British Columbia, Christine began her journey as a florist, a profession she had previously embraced during her university years and in Inuvik. Her passion for creativity and aesthetics led her to establish her own flower shop, aptly named "Christine's Creations."

However, life took an unexpected turn in 2011 when Christine fell ill with H1N1 and was diagnosed with Mitochondrial Disease, a genetic condition passed maternally. These health challenges permanently altered her ability to work, forcing her to close her beloved flower shop. Faced with adversity, Christine discovered solace in her art, viewing it as therapeutic and an intrinsic part of her existence.

Returning to her roots, she rekindled her love for colored pencils and channeled her passion for drawing animals. What began as a personal form of therapy soon transformed into a thriving business, where Christine accepts commissions to immortalize the beloved pets of her clients. She finds deep honor in preserving these cherished memories. More recently, Christine has delved into the captivating realm of human portraiture.
